The U.S. Department of Energy's Environmental Management Consolidated Business Center (EMCBC) and Cincinnati State Community College, would like to invite you to one of the areas premier scientific events for high school students, the Greater Cincinnati Regional Science Bowl, generally held the first week of February each year. Science Bowl encourages student involvement in math and science activities, improves awareness of career options in science and technology, and provides an avenue of enrichment and reward for academic science achievement.
Science Bowl competition is open to high school teams in the Greater Cincinnati regional area. High School students throughout Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky are also encouraged to participate.
The all-day competition includes oral question and answer rounds. Teams consist of four students who attempt to outscore opposing student teams. The winning team will proceed to the next level of competition until only two teams remain. Questions will be presented in toss-up-bonus format. Teams are quizzed on their scientific knowledge of
Each year, the winning regional team receives an expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. to compete in the Department of Energy (DOE) National Science Bowl , a Championship trophy to display at their school for a year, and awards for each team member.
The Greater Cincinnati Regional Science Bowl would not happen without the outstanding support of our over 50 volunteers. Volunteers are EMCBC employees, DOE Retirees, DOE current and former Contract Employees, family, friends, and members of the community. The DOE EM Consolidated Business Center encourages involvement through participating and promoting Science Education outreach.
