Holiday Giving"I am very proud of our EMCBC employees and thank them for their generosity to the CFC and our Cincinnati Metro Area charities. Special thanks go to the staff who volunteered time to make all the events possible. We had a lot of fun with our special fund-raising events and we all have the satisfaction of knowing that our donations will benefit good causes," said Jack Craig, EMCBC Director.

With the 2008 Cincinnati Metro Area CFC campaign extended from November to December, EMCBC employees kept on giving by adopting seven local families through the Society of St. Vincent DePaul in Cincinnati, a charity and approved CFC recipient program.

The EMCBC Office of Civil Rights and Diversity coordinated efforts among the EMCBC sections and the St. Vincent DePaul Society to provide a meaningful and lasting holiday for local families in need that included house ware items, toys and clothes for all members of the seven families.

Additionally, EMCBC employees sent holiday greetings, snacks and personal items to support deployed military members with 48 boxes weighing more than 442 lbs. shipped overseas.

The EMCBC special fund-raising events provided fun and inter-office competition with several new events highlighting the 2008 CFC campaign. The Penny War featured each organization collecting pennies in containers, however all non-penny donations had to be replaced with actual pennies. The war begins when employees, usually form a competing office, drop a few dollars into another office's penny jar. For example, a $5 bill means the receiving office would have to produce another 500 pennies. Finance won the Penny War and enjoyed a pizza lunch on Jack Craig, with the CFC campaign gaining $839.65 to the EMCBC total.

Other contest winners of note were:
  • Cornhole Contest (bag of corn throwing to elevated boards with a hole, with a horse shoes-like scoring system): Jack Craig and Tom Aug won; with Ralph Holland and Michael Mills in second place.
