National Volunteer Week April 23-29, 2006

EMCBC and Junior Achievement Partner in Outreach to Inner City Schools

April 2006

On April 20, 2006, President George W. Bush proclaimed the week of April 23-29 to be National Volunteer Week.  In recognition of the Proclamation, the EMCBC is announcing initiation of a new partnership with Junior Achievement of OKI Partners, Inc, the local branch of Junior Achievement, Inc. Junior Achievement of OKI Partners serves over 35,000 students in 24 counties in Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana.

Participating EMCBC employees have been assigned to elementary schools in inner city Cincinnati, where they will introduce the children to a world outside their own experiences and teach basic life skills such as personal financial management and planning.  The Junior Achievement curricula educate and inspire young people to improve the quality of their lives and helps prepare them to be the citizens and workforce of tomorrow.
