Pre-Solicitation Site Tour

I. TOUR LOGISITICS

A tour of the Hanford 222-S Laboratory Complex will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2009, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

It is recommended that all participants dress casually (business casual) and wear comfortable walking shoes (no open-toed shoes or high heels). If special accommodations are required, please notify Tamara Miles when registering for the tour. The tour is expected to be completed by 11:30 a.m.

Questions will not be entertained during the tour. Written questions will be accepted at the end of the tour on 3 x 5 cards, and the Department of Energy (DOE) responses will be posted on the solicitation web site.

II. TOUR REGISTRATION

Individuals who wish to participate in the tour must pre-register. Pre-registration, however, will not guarantee the pre-registered individual a spot on the tour. DOE may limit the number of participants on the tour due to national security concerns and/or tour logistics.:

With the exception of foreign nationals from sensitive countries (see Attachment 1), foreign nationals may pre-register for the tour. Foreign nationals wishing to pre-register for the tour must provide the information requested in Attachment 2 as soon as possible so that DOE has adequate time to comply with all necessary security policies and procedures.

All badging requests must be provided to Tamara Miles at tamara.miles@emcbc.doe.gov by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Thursday, Feb 26, 2009. Subsequent thereto, Ms. Miles will notify the individuals who will participate in the tour. Tour participants must report to the lobby in the Federal Bldg: 825 Jadwin Ave., Richland, WA 99352, Phone (509) 376-3032 at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2009, for visitor badge processing. You must be on time and bring photo of identification.

III. SECURITY ISSUES

Security requirements dictate that all participants remain with the tour group for the duration of the tour. There are also several prohibited items that are not allowed at the Hanford Site. These items are real or simulated firearms and ammunition, stun guns, alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs and paraphernalia, explosives, hand-held weapons, chemical irritants, and items prohibited by state and federal law. Other items not allowed on the tour are copying devices, electronic recording devices, cameras, radios, cellular telephones, blackberries (an emergency number will be available), and knives with blades more than three inches long. Contraband brought to the Hanford Site will be confiscated.

Please be aware that all hand carried items (packages, briefcases, handbags, purses, etc.) will be inspected prior to boarding the bus.

IV. DISCLAIMER

The tour is for informational purposes only. Prepared scripts of the tour will be available on the solicitation web site after the tour takes place. Any statements and/or representations made during the tour are not binding in any way on DOE or in any respect to the laboratory analytical services solicitation. Tour participants are cautioned that the ONLY controlling documents/information are the solicitation and any amendments thereto.
